Vista Del Mar Child & Family Services

Vista Del Mar Child & Family Services was established in 1908 and during the past 99 years the agency has evolved from an orphanage to a union of five specialized divisions working together to provide excellent educational and therapeutic services to families, individuals, and the underserved population of children suffering from mental, behavioral and emotional challenges.

Between residential, outpatient, community-based and education services, Vista Del Mar provides 45 programs to nearly 6,000 children and families. Services provided include, but are not limited to: a non-public school for 300 youth with special needs; therapeutic residential treatment for youth, ages 12-18; individual and group counseling for children and families; educational assessment and treatment; child abuse prevention services; early childhood care; therapeutic services for children with autism; and foster family and adoption services.

The majority of youth that are served by Vista Del Mar Child & Family Services have been referred by: the Department of Children and Family Services, the Department of Mental Health and the County of Los Angeles Probation Department.

Vista Del Mar's therapeutic residential program provides services to youth, ages 12-18, many of whom have been removed from their families by court order because of severe abuse and/or neglect causing serious behavioral and emotional problems. It is not uncommon for a resident to have had multiple placements within Vista Del Marthe foster care system before he or she arrives at Vista Del Mar.

These youth have been moved from home to home for a number of reasons including suicidal behavior, aggressive outbursts, sexual acting out and emotional disorders that foster parents are unable to handle. They are in dire need of help when they are referred to Vista Del Mar. Vista Del Mar is committed to giving them the best care possible.
